  114. This package contains PC Clock Version 1.3 by MacGregor K. Phillips.
  115. This document contains only a brief description of the package and its
  116. features, along with instructions for its installation. Quite detailed
  117. documentation is included in the package, but it is in archived form,
  118. and is more easily read after installation.

  120. If you've ever wished you could use your computer as a precision
  121. chronograph (timer) then PC Clock is the program for you. Once you
  122. calibrate your computer for three levels of precision you can use the
  123. Up, Down, Race, Lap, Game, and Split Timers to time anything from your
  124. eggs in the morning, the Indy 500, or a scientific experiment to an
  125. accuracy of millionths of a second.

  127. PC Clock is a shareware program. This version is complete and includes
  128. all features of the program, and is not crippled in any way. You may use
  129. it for up to 30 days, without charge (see CLOCK.DOC for more details).
  130. If you like the program, and wish to continue its use after this
  131. evaluation period, you are required to pay for the program (see
  132. REGISTER.DOC for more details). Any fee you may have paid to others
  133. (disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to obtain this program was a fee for their

  157. ===== Installation =====================================
  158.  
  159. The installation procedure for PC Clock is very simple. You will need at
  160. least 380K of free disk space to store all of the programs and
  161. documentation files.
  162.  
  163. If you have a 80286 computer the executable file is called CLK16.EXE.
  164. If you have a 80386 or 80486 computer the executable file is called
  165. CLK32.EXE. Both versions are supplied with the PC Clock package.
  166. PC Clock does not run on the 8086, 8088, 80186 or 80188 CPUs.

  168. PC Clock may be executed from either a floppy or hard disk drive. To
  169. minimize loading time it is recommended that PC Clock be run from a hard
  170. disk drive. You will also be able to create larger data files on a hard
  171. disk drive. PC Clock CANNOT be executed from a CD-ROM disk because it
  172. has to be able to create files in the directory in which the EXE file is
  173. located. CD-ROM is a read-only media and you cannot create files on it.

  175. INSTALLING PC CLOCK ON A FLOPPY DISK
  176.  
  177. If you received the PC Clock package on a floppy disk and plan on only
  178. executing PC Clock from a floppy disk no further installation is
  179. required unless you have not unarchived the programs and documentation
  180. files.
  181.  
  182. If you downloaded PC Clock to your hard disk or received PC Clock on a
  183. CD-ROM disk and wish to execute PC Clock from a floppy disk you must
  184. copy the program and documentation files to a floppy disk. You may use
  185. the DOS Copy Command to transfer the files. Depending on the drive and
  186. directory the files are in the command may be "COPY C:\TEMP\*.* A:\".
  187. This means copy all of the files from the TEMP directory on Drive C: to
  188. the root directory on Drive A:.
  189.  
  190. INSTALLING PC CLOCK ON A HARD DISK
  191.  
  192. If you received PC Clock on a floppy disk or CD-ROM disk and wish to
  193. install it on your hard disk you first need to create a directory to
  194. hold the PC Clock files. I suggest using the name "CLOCK", but the
  195. actual choice is up to you. Use the DOS Command "MD CLOCK" to create the
  196. CLOCK directory on your hard disk. If the files are in the root
  197. directory of the A: Drive use the following DOS Copy Command to transfer
  198. the files to the CLOCK directory on your C: hard disk drive:
  199. "COPY A:\*.* C:\CLOCK".

  201. EXECUTING PC CLOCK
  202.  
  203. If you desire to execute PC Clock from any directory, the directory name
  204. that PC Clock resides in must be placed in the "PATH=" environment
  205. variable. Check your DOS manual for more details. If the Directory is
  206. not in the "PATH=" environment variable you will first have to log on to
  207. the required directory with the following DOS Command: "CD CLOCK"
  208. assuming that "CLOCK" is the directory name you have the EXE file in.
  209. Then at the DOS prompt type in CLK32 or CLK16 and press the Enter Key.
  210. PC Clock will load and be ready to run. For detailed instructions on
  211. using PC Clock please read the CLOCK.DOC file which contains all the
  212. required instructions.

  240. PC Clock has the ability to save screen shots to a disk file called
  241. CLK32.PRN or CLK16.PRN. This file is accessable to any text editor that
  242. can handle ASCII files. The screen shots can be edited, or cut and
  243. pasted into other applications.
